Frequently Asked Questions About BWRT®
A – BWRT can be an incredibly fast and effective way of helping you to get past fears, phobias and anxiety. At your first session I will ask you lots of questions to find out what’s really going on and to help me work out what the best approach will be for you. If your problem is straightforward, we should be able to resolve it in a few sessions. However, some problems may require more time and effort. I will tell you if that is the case.
For more, check out the Institute of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy’s FAQ page.
A – The first session is longer than usual as I ask you lots of questions and we start to get to know each other. I may need to ask your GP or other doctor if it’s OK to work with you, and if so, I won’t start BWRT for at least 2 weeks. If your doctor does not give their consent, I will not be able to work with you. If your issue is straightforward, we’ll get started straight away. You do not have to tell me what the problem is, all you need to know is how you would rather feel about it instead. I then take you through a tried and tested process that helps your brain to create new neural pathways and let go of the old patterns of thinking and behaving that have been causing you a problem. There’s no hypnosis or tapping. You are awake and alert throughout
A – Everything you tell me is completely confidential and will only be disclosed if:
- I think you may be a danger to yourself or other people,
- I am required to disclose something by law,
- I need to raise something that has happened in one of our sessions with my supervisor or mentor (more experienced therapists who help us in our practice). In this case, I would not reveal anything that might enable them to identify you.
In all other cases, I would not discuss anything about you or your issues without your explicit permission.
A – I am based in Harwell, Oxfordshire but work regularly from the Wellbeing Centre in Newbury. I also have access to treatment rooms in Oxford, Reading and London. We may be able to work remotely using Skype, Facetime or Zoom.
A – If you need to cancel your session, please give me 48 hours’ notice. If you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment the full fee will be payable.
A – If you’re not happy with any aspect of our work together, please either call me on 07833 478 761 or email me giving me as much detail as possible. If we are unable to resolve the issue between us, you should contact the Insititute of BrainWorking Recursive Therapy or the British BrainWorking Research Society.

No therapy is a “magic bullet” “miracle pill or potion”. Success in therapy is dependant on many factors. I am committed to helping each client achieve their goals and resolve any issues for which they are attending for treatment, however success is dependent on, but not limited to:
- How well the therapist and client work together, as both need to give 100% effort and havea good rapport.
- How willing the client is to change and to completely embrace the therapy process.
I may also decide to refer a client to another therapist or cease any treatment if I feel that it is in the client’s best interest, or if in my opinion the therapeutic process is not working. Any decision to do so will be taken only after fully discussing the reasons with the client. A client may also terminate their treatment at any time provided they give the appropriate notice so that any booked sessions may be cancelled without losing valuable practice time.
